Idole by Lubin c1962

Idole by Lubin: launched in 1962 and created by Raymond Pouliquen.



The original Idole was available in parfum, parfum de toilette and eau de toilette.

Fragrance Composition:



So what does it smell like? It is classified as a floral chypre fragrance for women.
  • Top notes: aldehydes, Calabrian bergamot, peach
  • Middle notes: Egyptian jasmine, lily of the valley
  • Base notes: Mysore sandalwood, patchouli, civet, oakmoss, amber

Fate of the Fragrance:


It was still being sold in the 1970s but may have been discontinued in the early 1980s.

In 2005, it was reformulated by Olivia Giacobetti and relaunched as a Idole Pour Homme, a spicy woody masculine eau de toilette, but bears no resemblance to the original 1962 feminine version. The fragrance was presented in a bottle designed by Serge Mansau.

So what does it smell like? It is classified as spicy woody fragrance for men.

The eau de toilette:
  • Top notes: rum absolute, saffron, black cumin and bitter orange
  • Middle notes: Doum palm, smoked ebony, olibanum, incense and sugar cane
  • Base notes: red sandalwood, smoked ebony, leather


By 2009,  Idole Eau de Toilette was reformulated to conform with IFRA regulations, the fragrance was also repackaged and relaunched.



In 2011, Idole was reformulated again and released as a leathery woody oriental unisex eau de parfum, also created by Olivia Giacobetti. The fragrance was presented in a bottle designed by Serge Mansau.

The eau de parfum:
  • Top notes: rum absolute, saffron, black cumin and bitter orange
  • Middle notes: Doum palm, smoked ebony, olibanum, incense and sugar cane
  • Base notes: frankincense, leather, red amber, labdanum and sandalwood
