Dai Mo by Lubin c1954

Dai Mo by Lubin: launched in 1954. I have seen the perfume spelled both "Dai Mo" and "Daimo". Created by Edmond Roudnitska.

Fragrance Composition:

So what does it smell like? It was classified as a floral chypre fragrance for women.
  • Top notes: acacia, lavender, bergamot, sweet orange and lemon
  • Middle notes: thyme, tea, jasmine, neroli, rose and orris
  • Base notes: sandalwood, ambergris, vetiver, labdanum, patchouli, benzoin and tonka bean

Combat, 1955:
"Dai-Mo (perfume) by Lubin - an extract that withstands great heat. A new accent surprises the sense of smell and gives the classic jasmine a singular eloquence, while the tender little song of the acacia changes tone. Back -plan: wet earth, thyme, tea, precious wood. Japanese perfume? As Madame Claude Monet could be, when her Parisian little face served as a model for her husband's famous 'Japanese'."

Fate of the Fragrance:

Discontinued, date unknown.

The name Daimo was revived in 2019 with the creation of a new Lubin fragrance for their newly launched line Aristia. Created by Thomas Fontaine and Delphine Thierry. Daimo is only available as a 100ml Parfum concentration (retail price: $290 USD).
  • Top notes: violet leaves, bergamot and lemon
  • Middle notes: leather, peach and clove
  • Base notes: sandalwood, amber and patchouli

From Lubin:
"The Daimyo were powerful feudal lords, faithful to the Emperor of Japan, who led an army of samurai knights to defeat the enemies of the imperial order. Accustomed to danger, these devoted comrades-in-arms favored extreme refinement.
Aesthetic and elegant, they took great care of their arms and equipment, which was fabulously decorated.
Before a fight, these lords would perfume themselves, and Daïmo offers a fresh burst of peach followed by dominant notes of spice and noble woods.
Dark leather notes echo their waxed protective clothing."
